Painted Cabinet

I made a few modifications to my wife's site last night which turned out well. I fixed a few broken links and changed the intro page to just get to the pictures. The biggest change was to add the LightBox effect from the main page.

Although this is a great effect, there are a few downsides. First and probably foremost, it takes away from the SEO of the site. Since there isn't a landing page for the link, the actual picture gets the PR. Not ideal when a good deal of your traffic (her's in this case) comes from the search engines. To overcome this problem, I simply left the landing page for the pictures, but also added an "enlarge picture" link.

The other problem is more of a Xaraya problem rather than a LightBox one. Since I am using the images module to create the thumbnails, the picture that is on the page is nowhere the same as the one that I want to have shown in the lightbox. I overcame this with a real quick H A C K. I simply used the same url code that I am using for the forum posting codes (see any display page) as the anchor target. Seemed to work good.

The only bug that I see is the extra loading time for the JS causes the effect to not be shown until completely loaded in. It's a slight irritation, but I guess I need to find a way to speed up the load time a bit.

I'll post a tutorial for those that need it this weekend.
