This is Why Journalism is Dead
Steve Olson writes about the public schools in the US, and how the system is broken. As a father of two that are getting closer and closer to Jr. High, I can relate to the ideas. Normally, I am optimistic about the future of our country. I also tend to stay away from political discussion on my site, as everyone has their own beliefs, and far be it for me to express mine, when normally my opinion is pretty uneducated. That said, this blog entry goes much further in a personal way to illustrating one of the things that politicians, lobbyist, talk radio, political blogs, unions, tend to ignore: The failings of our education system in terms of social growth.
This is also why journalism is dead. Instead of being a check and balance on the above mentioned groups, they instead only illustrate the opinion that will buy points for their side. They don't write articles like the one that Steve wrote in this piece. They no longer feel the need to commentate and illustrate, but rather be an actual part of the story they are reporting. Articles such as this that portray the personal failings of the American way without the fallacies of fault just aren't found any longer.
Good job on this article Steve. Thanks, as you have at least one fan after today.
